"Feedback on Digital Media Academy"
Dear Academy,

I want to express my gratitude to both the Academy and Stratford Hall for their ongoing support of students pursuing Applications Programming & Web Development. We’ve signed Harry up for part 2, and I’m hopeful he’ll catch up with the curriculum and apply what he’s been learning. When we asked him about his coding class, here’s what he had to say:

"After three months of diving into Python with no prior knowledge, I can honestly say this class is pretty solid at teaching the material. When I began with four other students, I was completely clueless about Python or how it functioned. I had heard of it before and had a vague idea, but that was it. Some of my buddies do Python, and I thought it was super common and easy to pick up. Well, I learned two things from that experience. Common? Sure, it is. Easy to learn? Not really. Picking up something is straightforward when you’ve got some background knowledge. But starting from scratch? That’s a different ball game. Take the For loop, for instance. I didn’t grasp how it worked until recently when the teacher broke it down again. But I didn’t give up, and now I can confidently say I know Python. At a beginner level, of course, unlike my friend who wrote a script to find people’s passwords.
Additionally, the instructors did a fantastic job teaching Python and simplifying the concepts. They also encouraged everyone to share their progress and thoughts on the lessons. Overall, they did everything they could to create a great learning environment."

We truly appreciate the Academy for giving Harry a solid foundation. On another note, we’d like to suggest a small tweak: at the end of each term, it would be great if students could work on a final project to apply all their knowledge and create something with Python. This would allow them to really utilize what they’ve learned, and we parents could see their actual work. Also, it would be beneficial to connect them with peers in the community beyond just their Python classmates. We know there are some coding clubs or teams in British Columbia/Vancouver, but we’re not sure how to get involved or what level would be appropriate. We hope the Academy can help guide Harry and his classmates to participate in those external clubs or teams for further learning and sharing.

Aside from that, we believe the Academy has done an outstanding job teaching our son and his classmates the fundamentals of Python. I’m looking forward to seeing him continue to learn more in the upcoming terms.

Best regards,

Sophia

"Super satisfied and totally recommend"
My twins enrolled in classes at the Digital Media Academy, and they both picked up some solid skills and knowledge from their training. My daughter got into app development with Thunkable, and she's been busy creating her own apps ever since. Now she's eager to dive into more courses because it really sparked her interest. As for my son, he took an online game development course using Unity, and he's more into it than ever. He spends a lot of time learning about it, and it's pretty much all he talks about these days. The instructors were super helpful and really understanding. Big thanks to the trainers; we definitely recommend Digital Media Academy.

"Java Class for Minecraft Enthusiasts"
The Java class for Minecraft was just right for my kid. It's surely not meant for newbies, though. I was quite taken aback by how much my son already grasped about coding. The group project ought to have kicked off earlier in the week so there'd be more time to think things through and finish it rather than scrambling on the final day. But aside from that, my son had a blast.

"Awesome course, but admin could improve."
My kids think the course is fantastic, but I gotta say, the whole registration process and the emails we got before starting were pretty chaotic from what we saw.

"Great but way too brief..."
This is a solid course packed with plenty of info to absorb gradually. However, it’s super short—just around two months—and then it wraps up. Plus, it costs a pretty penny! 😭

"I got two scholarships for my boys..."
I managed to secure two scholarships during Spring Break for my sons. After registering them, I got a confirmation of their enrollment. However, I never got any updates from DMA after that, even after sending multiple emails asking about the courses I signed them up for. I had taken time off during spring break for this, and it was all for nothing!

"Digital Drawing Class for My Daughter"
My daughter enrolled in a digital drawing course. The teacher was skilled, understanding, and supportive of her artistic talents. This class deserves a full five-star rating. It was great that she could participate without any hassle of transportation. She gained a lot from the whole experience.

"Fantastic class experience"
This class was fantastic! The number of students per teacher was low, and the instructor really knew their stuff. My kid gained a ton of knowledge and actually enjoyed the course, which is pretty unusual for her. She’s eager to sign up for another one!

"Grateful for the scholarship as a student"
Being a student, I'm really thankful for the scholarship I got for this program. I picked up a ton of knowledge and I'm excited to use it in 8th grade. Dealing with Epilepsy, I felt relaxed while diving into the world of computers. Big thanks!

"Digital Media offers a broad range of skills..."
Digital Media provides a diverse array of training that’s tailored to fit the needs of today’s youth. This equips those who participate with a competitive advantage in both present and future classes. However, due to the cost of tuition, many young folks might miss out on these important opportunities.

"My kid had a blast with the storytelling!"
My kid had a blast with the storytelling program. The teacher was friendly and connected well with the little ones. The duration of the sessions was just right, and the material was solid.

One thing that could've made the classroom vibe even better is if everyone had their cameras on. My kid was the only one who did. I reckon the kids really miss out on not seeing each other, sharing their facial expressions, and those spontaneous reactions. The instructor would also gain from it since they could pick up on the kids' body language in real time during the class.

Thanks a bunch!

"Great Learning Experience"
I participated in a week-long course thanks to a scholarship I received for Programming & Web Development.

The instructor really put in the effort to make the class engaging and fun. I picked up a new coding language and even wrote my first lengthy piece of code.

Big thanks for this opportunity!

"Funds Left in Account After Camp Switch"
Since the camp wasn’t happening in person, I found myself with some cash still sitting in our account. The shift to a virtual camp cost less, so we had some extra funds left over. When the next class got canceled and switched to virtual, we decided not to enroll, and now we’ve lost the remaining balance in our account. I really wish we could use that money for another in-person camp down the line.
